Rigid PVC Calendered Sheet and Thermoformed Products

All of the advantages found in our precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) products apply if the PVC compound is used to manufacture sheet for thermoforming. The finer products improve surface finish and elongation at break. This allows for deep draw in the forming process.

Calendered Vinyl Sheet
Ultra-Pflex®, Calofort®s and Super-Pflex® PCCs are both used in the manufacture of calendered, rigid PVC sheet. As in other applications, Ultra-Pflex® and Calofort®s PCC provide the best surface finish and can reduce the level of impact modifier needed. Click here for information on SMI PCC and PVC properties. Rigid PVC Thermoformed Products
The talc-filled formulations described on the Specialty Minerals Inc. (SMI) webpage about replacing ABS with PVC work well in thermoforming applications because sheet can be produced to compete with ABS. In areas such as transportation vehicle interiors, where flammability is an issue, talc-filled PVC can offer an advantage over traditional materials. Click here to view this information.
