Specialty Minerals Inc. (SMI) offers a wide range of products for use in rigid polyvinyl chloride, PVC. Our product list includes ground limestone, precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC), talc, and barite. We use multiple ore sources, combined with our advanced processing and coating technology, to produce products of exceptional value.
Roles For Specialty Minerals Products In Rigid PVC
SMI products can be used to modify the properties of PVC compounds. They can make them stiffer, stronger, and less brittle. Ultra-Pflex® PCC, our 70 nanometer or 0.07 micron, coated ultrafine PCC, Tuffgard® PCC, our 0.35 micron, coated fine PCC can act as impact modifiers while reducing formulation cost. Our sub-micron talc can be used to create a PVC compound whose property balance rivals that of ABS.
