Specialty Minerals Inc.’s (SMI’s) products find many uses in polyolefin films, a market area of staggering diversity in today’s consumer-oriented world. Packaging, personal care, agricultural, industrial, and numerous other end uses each have their own set of demanding requirements that could not be met without the help of ground calcium carbonates (GCCs), precipitated calcium carbonates (PCCs), talcs as fillers, and talcs and proprietary talc-based products as antiblocks.
Specialty Minerals Minerals For Polyolefin and Other Films
GCCs, PCCs, and talc are used as fillers, generally at lower levels, for polyethylene, polypropylene, flexible polyvinyl chloride, and elastomeric films. Some of these films will also use talc or talc-based antiblocks.
